CEO Recognized for Virtual Events Leadership
SAN FRANCISCO, CA – July 22, 2009 – ON24, Inc., the global leader in webcasting and virtual event solutions, announced today that CEO Sharat Sharan has been named a “who’s who” in the marketing industry by BtoB Magazine.
The publication’s annual “Who’s Who in B-to-B Special Report” features key thought leaders and movers and shakers across a broad spectrum of the marketing industry. In compiling this year’s report, the editorial staff focused on nine categories: services, marketers, agencies, direct, e-mail, search marketing, business media, events and associations.
Sharan was cited for guiding ON24 through a period of explosive growth and for the leadership ON24 has demonstrated in webcasting and virtual events. In addition, he was recognized for his unique background—a combination of technical and media/publishing expertise—and how that has helped the company attract more than 700 customers, including most of the world’s leading media companies and a large percentage of the Fortune 500.
Sharan was formerly vice president and general manager of Hearst New Media and Technology and vice president of the Hearst New Media Group. Prior to joining Hearst, Sharan was responsible for business development at AT&T Wireless Systems and a member of the AT&T Bell Laboratories technical staff. He holds an MBA from the University of Chicago and a Master’s degree in Computer Science from Virginia Tech.
