Medical Industry Leader Taps Virtual Solution to Innovate Health Care Communications
San Francisco, Calif. – Sept. 5, 2013 — ON24, Inc., the global leader in webcasting and virtual environment solutions, and Mayo Clinic, a nonprofit worldwide leader in medical care, research and education, today announced a collaboration that will provide Mayo Clinic’s agenda-setting Transform symposium, being held September 8-10 in Rochester, Minn., to a broader audience via ON24’s virtual communications technology.
Transform 2013 is the Mayo Clinic Center for Innovation multidisciplinary symposium focused on transforming the way health care is experienced and delivered. Topics include new models of care delivery, the uncertainty of change in the health care landscape, the intersection of business and health care innovation and how to scale programs to large populations.
In a step to enhance the use of virtual technology to instantly share insights from across disciplines, Mayo Clinic is collaborating with ON24 to host live webcasting of Transform, the first-ever public webcast of the event. By enhancing their digital presence, Mayo Clinic will open its doors exponentially beyond the 800-person maximum attendees registered to attend the symposium in person. Attendees will be able to access main stage speakers, interact with other web-based attendees through a “networking lounge” in real time, and easily navigate content from previous sessions.
The webcast reflects the goal of Mayo Clinic to adopt innovative technology that reduces communication barriers and connects the most forward-thinking minds in health care with each other. “The technology ON24 brings is exciting because it enables strong social integration and mobile device access while creating a unique experience for virtual attendees,” said Francesca Ripple, public affairs communications manager at Mayo Clinic. “Transform is the only conference that combines design thinking, innovation and world-class medical expertise. By using ON24’s scalable virtual communications technology we are able to easily expand our community globally and further spread the wealth of ideas shared by our remarkable attendees, staff and speakers for both the event and beyond.”
With renowned speakers including Maria Bartiromo of CNBC, Tim Brown of IDEO, Daniel Lamarre of Cirque du Soleil and many of Mayo Clinic’s own physicians and researchers, this year’s event will feature transformative ideas from some of the most innovative thinkers in the world. To engage the Mayo Clinic community before, during and after the conference, the webcast will be integrated with Mayo Clinic social media channels. In addition, ON24’s webcasting technology will allow remote attendees to not only attend keynote speeches but also to interact in an online networking lounge where they will have the ability to connect with other virtual attendees and to interact with these high-profile speakers.
“ON24 is proud to support the work of Mayo Clinic and to break down the barriers that may have kept people from participating in Transform in the past,” said Sharat Sharan, CEO of ON24. “This is the type of application for which our platform was designed – it’s ideal for large, global and engaged audiences that require a mobile and socially integrated experience. One of the critical components that makes the Transform symposium so special is the emotional connection attendees have with each other and with the content. Our challenge is to bring that to life in an interactive online environment. We want to fully engage virtual attendees so that they walk away with the same sense of purpose as those who attend in person.”
The Transform 2013 webcast is available at no cost to anyone, anywhere. The live web stream can be accessed at http://www.mayo.edu/transform/transform-2013-web-stream. Join the online conversation by following #TXFM on Twitter and www.facebook.com/MayoClinic.
