Global Crossing to Host Virtual Trade Show with ON24 to Showcase Collaboration Services

August 18th, 2010

Keynote to Feature Analysis of Latest Enterprise Video Applications

SAN FRANCISCO, Calif. – August 18, 2010 – ON24, Inc., the global leader in webcasting and virtual event solutions, today announced that Global Crossing (NASDAQ: GLBC), a leading global IP solutions provider, will be using the ON24 Virtual Show platform for its virtual trade show, “Collaborate NOW!” This virtual event will showcase Global Crossing’s award-winning collaboration products and services.

Scheduled for September 1, 2010, the virtual trade show will also feature presentations on emerging collaboration services and best practices for driving business productivity. The event will include a live keynote on the latest in business video applications, delivered by Henry Dewing, principal analyst with independent research firm Forrester Research, Inc.

“We are excited to host this virtual event with ON24,” said Debra Swann, Global Crossing’s vice president of Marketing. “The ‘Collaborate NOW!’ event will showcase the latest offers from our collaboration solutions as well highlight the significant value this venue offers our customers. Unlike a traditional trade show, our online event allows participants to attend without leaving their homes or offices and experience firsthand the benefits of zero travel costs, improved productivity, and so much more.”

According to ON24 CMO Denise Persson, the timing for Global Crossing’s virtual show coincides with the rapid growth of the virtual event market and the evolution of its underlying technology. ON24’s most recent market survey of 10,000 international executives showed significant adoption of virtual communication solutions; 87% of the respondents, representing a wide variety of industries, are either already using (52%) or planning to use (35%) virtual environments for all types of corporate applications.

Persson said that survey findings also show a shift from physical to virtual events this year:

  • Nearly one-third (31%) expect in-person training, management and other internal events to be down 20-40%.
  • 35% will have fewer physical sales kick-off meetings.

In addition to this virtual event provided through ON24, Global Crossing and ON24 announced earlier this year that they are working together to expand the videoconferencing experience Global Crossing offers its customers. To do this, Global Crossing is using ON24’s Webcast Center platform and Virtual Show solution to support its suite of videoconferencing collaboration services and to offer customers an interactive tool for reaching audiences worldwide.

“Collaborate NOW!” will be presented on September 1 from 11:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m. EDT, with content available on demand for 90 days following the event. Registration information is available here: Collaborate NOW! Follow the conversation on Twitter with hashtag #CollaborateNOW!
