Problem:

Pam Granzin (Manager, Marketing & Communications at SCOR Global Life Americas Reinsurance Company) first started delivering webinars when SCOR acquired a U.S. company at which the medical directors were already using webinars to provide continuing education to life underwriters.

“At the time, I had very little experience with this medium and relied heavily on the presenters who had been giving the webinars and had the technical experience that I lacked,” said Granzin. “In the beginning, we only hosted one webinar per quarter and our audience was limited to our client underwriters, typically fewer than 200 people.”

Furthermore, the team was running into technical issues due to unstable existing platforms that constantly plagued them with audio and video issues. Without the technical expertise or resources to research and resolve them, Granzin knew she needed to find a better solution if she planned on keeping webinars as an integral new component of her marketing programs.

“It was sink or swim… but I was out of my depth and swimming in unfamiliar waters.”

Solution:

“We needed a partner to take on the technical issues so that we could focus on content development,” said Granzin. “We needed a new platform!” So Granzin went in search of a new solution that would make it easier to orchestrate more reliable audio and video content. Which led her to the ON24 platform.

At first, Granzin said her primary objective was to find a platform that would “just get it done and not crash.” Because of this, she was particularly drawn to ON24 Webcast Elite’s simu-live feature, allowing presenters to pre-record live webinars in advance, thus minimizing any potential day-of technical and bandwidth issues.

To further her research, Granzin attended an ON24 event hosted by chief webinerd Mark Bornstein and was hooked. “I started attending ON24 webinars and visiting the ON24 Knowledge Center to expand my webinar expertise and ultimately improve our offering.”

ON24 Webcast Elite made it easy to build interactivity into her webinar experiences. She included resource lists, surveys, 1:1 chats, polls and live Q&A to keep audiences engaged and capture the valuable first-party data she needed to better understand and respond to the unique needs of her clients and prospects.

With the customizable audience dashboard and built-in analytics, Granzin was able to more easily pull the metrics she needed to prove the success of her webinar programs and get a better understanding of which features worked for her audience and which could be eliminated.

Results:

In 2020, SCOR presented 14 webinars and expanded its audience from only medical clients to prospects, partners and industry experts, more than doubling its  average attendee count. “We went from attracting an average of 100 attendees per webinar to upward of 300, and our largest webinar attracted over 600 people.”

To increase ROI and accommodate audiences who were unable to make the live event date, Granzin leveraged the ON24 platform to build an on-demand webinar strategy that nearly tripled attendance rates in 2020 alone.

“The people, processes and resources of ON24 were in place when we needed them,” said Granzin.

“I feel very fortunate that we already had ON24 as a partner to help us turn webinars into our primary external communications channel during the pandemic.”
