Use Case: Live Professional Certification

Industry: Non-profit Organization

The Florida Holocaust Museum is a private, non-profit 501(c)(3) corporation that honors the memory of millions of innocent men, women, and children who suffered or died in the Holocaust. The museum is dedicated to teaching people of all races and cultures to recognize the inherent worth and dignity of human life in order to prevent future genocides.

Introduction

In addition to public tours and exhibitions, the Florida Holocaust Museum provides training and curriculum resources to help teachers meet the state- mandated Holocaust education requirements the museum helped shape in 1994.

When museum visits and school training sessions were canceled during the 2020 pandemic, museum staff had to move the education program online quickly. They needed to find a secure virtual platform that would provide on-demand training options and the data capabilities they needed to meet government reporting requirements.

ON24 empowered the museum’s education team to pivot successfully, report accurately, and reach thousands more teachers and students with their message.

Problem

Holocaust Education Provider Pivots to Meet Virtual Training Demands

To stay in front of digital-first audiences, The Florida Holocaust Museum needed to pivot from in-person education to virtual training and move its curriculum resources online. The museum education team searched for a platform that could help them provide on-demand resources to teachers and students across the state.

At the time, the platform they currently used to broadcast these events was susceptible to unwanted interruptions from attendees looking to “bomb” events with offensive content. This made
Yara Lugo, a museum educator, and her coworkers nervous. They wanted to make sure they had a controlled online learning environment where teachers and students could feel safe without the risk of antisemitic attacks.

In addition to more security, the team wanted a platform that would help them execute a strategic digital engagement strategy, with plenty of engagement tools and strong reporting capabilities. While they experimented with other video conferencing platforms, they weren’t confident in the features these solutions provided.

“We really appreciated the security of the ON24 Platform. We feel comfortable knowing we have a safe, controlled space for training, and participants can trust our in-platform links to outside resources.”

Solution

ON24 Provides On-Demand Resources, Data and Peace of Mind

The museum team knew of another large educational organization using ON24. After hearing great feedback, they decided it was a platform they could trust. The team filmed their trainings, uploaded them to ON24 and easily added links from their resource library.

Using ON24 Webcast Elite, the education team set up digital classrooms, each with a webinar on a particular topic and links to materials referenced in the webcasts. Teachers and students could safely access always-on training on their own schedules, without the expense of travel, and without the risk of offensive interruptions from “online trolls.”

“We really appreciate the security of ON24,” says Lugo. “We feel comfortable knowing we have a safe, controlled space for training and participants can trust our in-platform links to outside resources.”

Since the Florida Department of Education contracts The Florida Holocaust Museum to provide training and ongoing education for teachers, the data capabilities ON24 provides are invaluable. Additionally, teachers can download certificates if they require proof of attendance.

With ON24 Intelligence, the team can access robust and detailed data about students and teachers who are engaging with the training and certifications available. Data collection tools simplify the reporting process, and audience engagement insights help the team discover and pursue new expansion opportunities.

“I love data! Being able to see the numbers in the ON24 Platform, and knowing exactly who is accessing our resources is incredibly helpful and powerful as we look for areas of expansion,” said Lugo.

Engagement tools are also important. With ON24 chat and Q&A, attendees could interact with museum staff, in real-time.

ON24 Platform automatically adds webinar participants to the museum’s marketing email list based on their level of engagement, so the museum can stay top of mind and inform interested parties about upcoming events and opportunities.

Museum Meets the Needs of Teachers and Students Across the State

Before the COVID-19 pandemic, The Florida Holocaust Museum focused on museum visits and in-person training events in schools. By moving to ON24 for virtual events, museum staff reached thousands more teachers and students and accurately keep track of webinar engagement.

For Lugo, virtual training allows their team to reach and educate clients that otherwise never would have been possible. Lugo is happy that her team, can provide the on-demand training teachers and students need in an easy- to-access format.

“With ON24, we’ve been able to grow our library of webinars and greatly expand our reach. We’re the only organization in Florida that provides statewide outreach for Holocaust education, and ON24 helped us get here.”

The museum plans to continue using ON24 and may experiment with more of the tools available like polls and live webinars. Lugo highly recommends ON24 Webcast Elite to other educational organizations, especially if they need data collection capabilities for reporting purposes.
