Dentistry and orthodontics are shifting from analog to digital. The iTero Element Intraoral Scanner from Align, propels today’s dental practice into the future by enhancing the patient experience and elevating clinical precision. Within the dental and medical device industry, Align Technology constantly brings new and better solutions to dentists and patients. Those advances in technology require similar advances in education and training to continuously build deeper relationships with customers.
Align had to mass-train dental professionals on the adoption and use of intraoral scanners before dental teams could integrate Align’s technologies into their practices. Quality educational services were an obvious value-add for the company’s products. All it had to do is find a reliable and scalable solution.
Align needed a comprehensive dental education and engagement program to connect with and inform busy dentists and orthodontists. To accomplish this, the iTero training team built a three-phased approach to provide training for the intraoral scanner. Phase 1 focused on self-paced foundational learnings, Phase 2 focused on core clinical trainings hosted one-on-one by instructors virtually and Phase 3 focused on more advanced clinical education, hosted on a limited functionality meeting tool.
While Phase 1 and 2 performed well, the advanced Phase 3 education program lacked in desired outcomes. Additionally, the tool they used to host the advanced clinical education didn’t provide the interactivity, reliability and on-demand functionality that Align needed.
Align quickly recognized it needed a new solution to address its pain points and to scale its training program.

Then Align discovered the ON24® Platform. Through a more robust platform, Align could offer useful training resources for dental teams. For example, it used always-on and simulive features to deliver training and educational resources when its busy audience could consume the content. With a convenient and easy-to-use solution in place, Align decreased the barrier to entry for its sales teams and provided training resources that deliver more relevant content at the dental customer’s learning pace and schedule.
Since switching to ON24, Align’s iTero Intraoral Scanner team has scaled its advanced education program, increasing the overall number of trainings by 45.75 percent. As a result, Align has engaged and educated more dental professionals than ever before, increased training attendance by 54 percent year-over-year. This is due in part to streamlining always-on viewing, which has increased by 14.5 percent.
Now, the iTero Element intraoral scanner team uses NPS as a powerful indicator to collect engagement information to refine the quality and effectiveness of its programs and identify hot topics for future trainings. Above all, Align, powered by ON24, has created a simplified, visual, engaging way for dentists to learn dental device capabilities. Align is now integrated into dental practice educational initiatives, where digital processes are improving the level of dental care educating patients more than ever
