What is Aspect Ratio?

Aspect ratio provides designers, marketers, and web builders with a height-to-width guideline for adjusting visual assets. Within the ON24 Platform, this ratio is key to ensuring that webinar imagery, event thumbnails, and speaker headshots appear clear and well-framed. It’s most commonly represented as two numbers separated by a colon—such as 16:9 for widescreen formats or 4:3 for traditional displays. Maintaining the correct aspect ratio keeps media visually consistent across devices and content environments.

Why it matters

  • Maintains visual quality: Prevents images from appearing stretched, distorted, or cropped within ON24 event consoles or landing pages.
  • Promotes consistency: Ensures a cohesive visual experience across webinars, content hubs, and branded materials.
  • Focuses viewer attention: Helps determine the focal point of an image, guiding the viewer’s eyes to the most important area of the visual.

How it’s used

  • Adjust webinar speaker headshots or event banners so subjects are centered and proportionate to the frame.
  • Use standard formats like 16:9 for webinar content and 1:1 for social or profile visuals.
  • Modify images with taller aspect ratios to create vertical emphasis for speaker views or portrait layouts.
  • Select wider aspect ratios for horizontal banners or group webinar scenes.
  • Apply consistent ratios across ON24 webinar experiences to maintain a professional brand appearance.

Key benefits

  • Professional presentation: Aligns visuals with platform templates for seamless design integration.
  • Cross-device reliability: Ensures graphics look sharp on desktops, tablets, and mobile screens.
  • Brand cohesion: Supports a unified visual style across all digital touchpoints.
  • Improved viewer experience: Makes presentations and content easier to consume without visual distractions.
  • Simplified production: Reduces the need for manual resizing or reformatting.
