Webcast System Requirements

To listen to a webcast, you must use a multimedia computer that meets or exceeds the following minimum system requirements.

Windows

  • 200 MHz (or higher) Intel Pentium processor
  • 64 MB RAM
  • Windows 2000/XP, Windows NT, 98, ME
  • 16-bit sound card and speakers
  • 65,000 color video display card
  • Streaming Audio/Video Player

    A streaming audio/video player is a plug-in that must be installed before you can listen to the webcast. We currently support two streaming video/audio plug-ins:

    • Microsoft Windows Media Player
    • RealNetworks Real Player


    You must specify which streaming audio/video player will be used to listen to the webcast, before you can actually listen to the webcast. More Info

  • Web Browser

    Webcasts can be accessed with the following web browsers:

    • Microsoft Internet Explorer 6.0


    You should determine the current version of your Internet Explorer browser before listening to the webcast. More Info

  • Internet Access

    You will need a minimum 28.8 K modem before you can listen to a webcast. More Info


Streaming Audio/Video Player

A streaming audio/video player is a plug-in that must be installed before you can listen to the webcast. We currently support two streaming audio/video plug-ins:

  • Microsoft Windows Media Player
  • RealNetworks Real Player

You must specify which streaming audio/video player will be used to listen to the webcast, before you can actually listen to the webcast.

Microsoft Windows Media Player

If this webcast uses only the Microsoft Windows Media Player audio/video format, you must select the Microsoft Windows Media Player format to stream real-time audio, video, and other interactive programs to your computer.

If the Windows Media Player is not currently installed on your computer, you will need to download and install the player before you can listen to the webcast.

The download and installation procedures are determined by which default browser you will use to listen to the webcast.

Internet Explorer Users

If Internet Explorer is your default browser, the browser will automatically install the Windows Media Player after it is downloaded.

Download Times

The Windows Media Player is a 2.5 MB file. On a LAN connection, it will take approximately 30 seconds to download. On a 28.8k dial-up modem it will take approximately 20 minutes.

Real Player

If this webcast uses only the Real Player audio/video format, you must use the Real Player to stream real-time audio, video, and other interactive programs to your computer.

If the Real Player is not currently installed on your computer, you must download and install the player before you can listen to the webcast.

Download Times

The Real Player is a 4.7 MB file. On a LAN connection, it will take about 30 seconds to download. On a 28.8k dial-up modem, it will take approximately 35 minutes.

Web Browser

Webcasts can be accessed with the following web browsers:

  • Microsoft Internet Explorer 6.0.

You should determine the current version of your Internet Explorer browser before accessing the webcast.

Microsoft Internet Explorer

To determine which Internet Explorer version is installed on your computer, complete the following steps:

  1. Open the browser.
  2. Click the Help menu.
  3. Click About Internet Explorer. The Internet Explorer Help screen opens, and displays version information. Webcasts can be accessed with any Internet Explorer, version 6.0.
  4. Close the Internet Explorer Help screen.

You can download a newer version of Internet Explorer by clicking the appropriate browser link on the Help screen.
